Plumbing Problems & Quick Fixes

Posted by:

Any plumbing problem is bad news to any owner. It ordinarily denotes there will be a great mess and a huge bill to accompany the mess. Admittedly, I cannot alter the cash situation, but I can help take care of some common plumbing problems. For many plumbing fiascos, there are interim fixes to avert any further depreciation to your property.

Overflowing Toilet

When I pointed out the bad news of a plumbing problem, the daddy of them all is the overflowing latrine. There is nothing charming about it. To temporarily resolve a flooding toilet, the first thing you must do is prod the ball valve down to the valve seat and keep force on it. The ball valve and the valve seat are found within the toilet’s tank. Then, promptly turn the valve underneath the latrine tank. This is the water shut-off valve. Provided that you’re feeling resourceful, you can attempt to unclog the toilet with a plunger before calling a plumber.

Broken / Burst Pipe

Burst pipes are a regular thing in old houses and houses that are in cold climate. Unfortunately, there is no quick fix, but you can prevent the water from pouring into your house anymore than it already has. Essentially, all you have to do is turn off the main water shut-off valve to your home. At the closest conceivable opportunity call High End Plumbing to replace the broken pipe.

Faucet Won’t Stop Running

The best route to tackle this situation is to get to under the sink and turn off the water shut-off valve. This may be behind the cabinets where the sinks plumbing runs. Admittedly, this doesn’t take care of the prevailing situation, but it permits you to have chance to call a plumber if need be.

Water leaks should be repaired as soon as they are detected so as to save water. A burst pipe should be removed and replaced quickly and for that you can use a clamp as it will solve the problem temporarily. First of all you need to turn off the water supply and then, thaw the pipe by using a hair dryer or heat gun and remember that it should be set at the lowest temperature. After that keep the heat moving along the pipe until the thawing is completed.
